Luella Young

Burlington - Luella A. Young, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Verona, MO to the late Samuel Benjamin and Ella King Witthaus and was married for 66 years to the late Edmund N. Young. She was a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church. She loved quilting and had a passion for journaling daily events and the weather.
She is survived by her beloved canine companion, Tibby, her children, Bill (Ann) Young of Leesburg, GA, Gene (Sue) Young of Alton, NH, Luana (Gary) Shafer of Burlington; grandchildren, Ben (Courtnie) Young of Salem, OR, Morgen (Kevin) Young Kemp of Camillus, NY, Catherine (Andrew) Young Craker of South Bend, IN, Kevin Blincoe of Mebane; great grandchildren, James and Matthew Young, Zackary and Jacob Blincoe; and brother, Kenneth (Nancy) Witthaus of Saratoga, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers, Samuel and William K. Witthaus.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Mt. Zion Christian Church by Rev. Dr. Rick Webster.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or to the Alamance County Animal Shelter, 221 Stone Quarry Rd., Haw River, NC 27258.
