Lucy "Sissy" Long

Lucy “Sissy” Virginia Long, 71, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.  She was born in Alamance County to the late John Thomas Long and Lucy Virginia King Long.

Lucy was a beloved Mother, Daughter, Sister, and Aunt who brought much joy and laughter into the lives of everyone she met. As a two-time cancer survivor, she will always be remembered as a pillar of strength and inspiration.

She is survived by her son Ron Swaim of Rolesville; brother Ronnie Long of Haw River; sister Tina (Jeff) Apple of Gibsonville; a loving nephew and caregiver John Mumford of Burlington; twelve beloved nieces and nephews:  Wesley King, Tammy Murray, Penny Simmons, Amy Webster, Melinda Frye, Lucy Long, Josh King, Gene Long, Rhonda Kay Long, Lisa Wagoner, Dee Dee Nehls and Mallery Simmons; stepbrother Eugene (Georgia) Terrell of Mebane; and sister-in-law, Sandra Green of Snow Camp.

Along with her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Lynda Swaim; stepfather John Terrell; sister, Shelby Michaels (Colon); brothers: J.D. Long (Janine), Tommy Long, and Johnny King as well as a loving nephew John Long. Also she was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Martha Long; and step-sister, Lavonia Gail Terrell.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 5, 2021 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. Public viewing will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 AM till 5:00 PM.

In an effort to help follow Covid-19 guidelines, this service will be live streamed and the family requests that everyone who attends also help by wearing a mask and observing social distancing.
