BURLINGTON Elvie Lucille Forrester Spoon, 95, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Edgewood Place. She was born on March 27, 1919 in Chatham County and was the daughter of the late Charles and Elvie Dixon Forrester. She was the loving wife of the late Merritt Claude Spoon, Jr. M.C. and they had celebrated almost 45 years of marriage when he passed away in August, 1988. Lucille retired from Kayser-Roth Hosiery Company after being employed there for almost 30 years. She was a longtime member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Kimesville, NC where she served as secretary of her Sunday school class for several years. Not only was Lucille an accomplished seamstress and an excellent cook, she enjoyed many craft projects through the years. When Lucille retired from Kayser-Roth, she and M.C. enjoyed many fun trips to Myrtle Beach, SC. Lucille never met a stranger and loved everyone she ever met. She was always willing to help anyone in any way that she could. She deeply loved her family and friends and she will be greatly missed by everyone. Her beautiful smile, her beautiful blue eyes and her sense of humor will be cherished memories. Her loving family who survive are: Son, Douglas Spoon and wife Jane of Burlington; daughter Catherine Sealey and husband Rick of High Point; her grandchildren, Jodie Jacobs and husband Doug of Burlington, Jennifer Williamson of Raleigh and John Michael Williamson of Burlington. She is also survived by one great granddaughter, Megan Jacobs of Burlington and Chapel Hill. Also surviving are many special nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her daughter, Elvie Jean Spoon Williamson; sisters, Jessie Siler, Sallie Collier and Estelle Wall; brothers, Clarence, Nathan, Sam and Vance Forrester. Lucille was also preceded in death by her sisters-in law, Mildred, Hilda, Gladys and Mildred Forrester, Lucille and Evelyn Spoon and Gladys Patton; brothers-in law, Paul Siler, Frank Collier and Aaron Wall; John and Harold Spoon and Pat Patton. The funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 4 at 2:00 pm at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 4400 Alamance Church Road, Liberty, NC 27298 by Rev. Charles Ireson. Burial will be in the church cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials may be made to Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church or to Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Edgewood Place for their loving care of Lucille for the past two years and to the other residents and their families for their support and friendship. The family would also like to thank the Hospice and Palliative Care staff for their help and support for the past two months.
