Lowell Green

Mr. Lowell Shellman Green, age 83, of Elon, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at his residence after a sudden illness.

Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late John William Green and Margaret Gwynn Green and was married to Nancy Ann Reid Green, who survives.  After receiving a Bachelors Degree from Georgia Institute of Technology, he was employed in the textile industry for 15 years with Uniroyal Textiles in Winnsboro, SC, followed by 18 years with Cone Mills in Haw River.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elon where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and organized the kitchen activities.  He was formerly very active in the Western Alamance High School Band Boosters.  Shellman loved cooking and in his later life received an Associates Degree in Culinary Technology.

Mr. Green is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Melissa “Missy” Green Gibson and husband, Brian, and Susan Marie Hollowell and husband, Pete; a granddaughter, Margaret Elizabeth “Maggie” Gibson; and a brother-in-law, John Lee Reid, Jr.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Margaret Ann Jordan Green.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Kellie Gallagher.  The service will be live streamed on the funeral home website.
