Louise Bryson

Burlington, NC Louise Bryson, 92, of 3749 Wade Coble Drive at Twin Lakes Retirement Community in Burlington died on Tuesday, July 3, 2007. She had been a resident at Twin Lakes since selling her home in Chapel Hill in 1989. She was a lady of gentle temperament, generous spirit, persevering patience, deep modesty, and stubborn good humor in dealing with the ailments that afflicted her over the years. She was a wonderful mother, devout Christian, loving wife, trustworthy employee, and great friend to the many who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be missed with great affection. She was born in 1914. She lost her father at age 4, and then lived with her mother and two brothers until she went to live at the Masonic Home in Richmond, Va. at the age of 10. She moved to Durham, NC at age 18 to be with her mother, and to take a job at Belks Department Store. She married Henry Bryson in January, 1940, and they lived in Chapel Hill. A son, Richard, was born in 1942. Henry died in 1967 and Louise went back to work at Belks. She finally retired in 1984. She was a charter member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chapel Hill and an enthusiastic participant in its activities. She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, John, William; and a sister, Mildred. She is survived by her son, Richard Lilton Bryson who lives in Yadkinville, a grandson, Kirk Bryson who lives in Chapel Hill; and her sister, Frieda Walsh who lives in Hague, Va. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Twin Lakes Chapel by Rev. Frank Perry and a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at Twin Lakes.
