Louise Brammer

Elon - Just six days preceding her eighty-first birthday, Louise Morrison Brammer left us to be with the Lord on November 11 at the Hospice Home of Alamance Caswell, Burlington. Before hospice care, she had resided at Liberty Commons in declining health for two and a half years. Louise was born November 17, 1926 in Patrick County, Virginia. She grew up in Patrick County and was Miss Woolwine 1942. She and husband John were married May 27, 1946 in Fairy Stone Park, VA. They lived in Eden until moving to Alamance County in 1951 and called Elon home for most of their sixty one years together. She was a loving mother to four sons and so much relished the role of nurturing caregiver that after her own grew up, she tended many small children. Louise was known as an exceptional cook, flower gardener, birdtender, avid daily journal keeper, poem and letter writer and crafter when not invested in her homemaking commitment. She was a collector of bells, dolls and novelties of the hummingbird that she had such an affection for. Louise deeply loved her church life and her membership spanned over 45 years at First Baptist of Elon. She was most recently a member of the Epsie Somers Class and Women on Missions Group. She enjoyed serving as a teacher to children's classes and G.A.s and also served many years on the baptismal committee. She is survived by husband John C. Brammer of Elon, twin sister Lucille Nolen of Eden, brother James L. Morrison of Stuart, VA, four sons, John Melvin Brammer and wife Mary of Charlotte, Howard L. Brammer and wife Roxanne of Wilmington, Harold L. Brammer, now of Elon, and C. Keith Brammer and wife Kathy, five grandsons, 4 granddaughters and one great grandson. Louise was the daughter of the late Joseph William Morrison and the late Lelia Staples Morrison. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph W. Willie Morrison and Calvin E. Morrison, and two sisters, F. Virginia Rorrer and Lelia S. Scott. The family will receive visitors at Lowe Funeral Home of Burlington from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 14. The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Elon Thursday, Nov. 15 at 11 am with services conducted by Rev. Mark Mofield and church choir. The graveside service will follow at 3 pm at Sycamore Baptist Church Cemetery, Buffalo Ridge Community, Patrick County, VA, where she will be laid to rest next to her parents. The Brammer Family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, CNAs, therapists, administrative and support staffs at the Hospice Home of Alamance Caswell, Liberty Commons, Alamance Regional Medical Center and to their church family and friends for their caring attentiveness and kind affections rendered to this special lady over the past weeks, months and years.
