Lou Wallace, 87, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at White Oak Manor in Burlington, NC. A native of Memphis Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Raymond Andrew and Hazel Hixon Wallace.
Lou attended the University of Tennessee, married and reared four children before returning to Elon University to earn her Bachelor’s degree in religious studies. She then went on to receive an M. Div and Th. M. in Pastoral Care from Duke Divinity School as well as a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Counseling from The Graduate Theological Foundation.
She retired from her position as a United Methodist Minister serving as a Hospice Bereavement Specialist in 2020. She directed the Bereavement Program, Spiritual Care Program and Support Services at Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro. She also helped start the children’s bereavement program and the Community Grief Counseling Center.
Lou loved to read, garden, teach, travel, go to the movies and visit with friends and family over a good meal. She also enjoyed spending time with her two surviving children and ten grandchildren that live in different parts of the country as much as she could.
She is survived by her children; Donald Thomas “Tom” Neblett, Jr. (Margaret Meub) and Steven “Whit” Neblett, as well as her grandchildren; Mark, Rachel, Christiane, Melissa, Whitney, Katie, Taylor, Graham, Elijah and Rivers and great grandchildren; Hailey, Aiden, and Avery. Lou is preceded in death by her daughter; Leslie Korinne Neblett Michaud, son; Scott Andrew Neblett Rivers, her parents; Raymond Andrew Wallace and Hazel Hixon Wallace, and her brother Raymond Andrew Wallace, Jr, (Joan).

A Memorial Service in remembrance of Lou will be held at West Market Street United Methodist Church, 302 W. Market St, Greensboro, NC 27401 at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January, 13, 2024.
