Lorena Winburn

Mrs. Lorena Chambers Winburn, age 89, of Burlington, died Monday, September 2, 2013 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several months of failing health. Born in Person County, she was the daughter of the late Wilcie Chambers and the late Etta Whitt Chambers and was married for 69 years to Edward Lee Winburn, who survives. She was a career homemaker and also was a sitter for children and medical patients. She was a longtime and very active member of Wicker St. Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and tending to her roses. Mrs. Winburn is survived by her husband, Edward, of the home; a daughter, Caroline McKeithen and her husband, Dave, of Live Oakes, FL; two sons, Vic Winburn and his wife, Joyce, of Hickory, NC and Dennis Winburn, Sr. and his wife, Debra, of Burlington; six grandchildren, Nicole Heiser, Amy McLaughlin, Kameron Winburn, Jonathan McKeithen, Allie Rae Winburn and Dennis "Ray" Winburn, Jr.; two step grandchildren, Joshua Patton and Joanna Patton; nine great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; three sisters, Ethel Aiken of Bahama, NC, Irene Mooney of Durham and Ann Abernathy and her husband, John, of Miami, FL; and two brothers, John Chambers and his wife, Nell, of Burlington and Mack Chambers of Rougemont, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Wilcie Edward Winburn; and twin daughters, Mary Lou Winburn and Betty Sue Winburn. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 Friday, September 6, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ricky Lewis. There will be a graveside service at 3:00 PM Friday at Blalock and Chambers Family Cemetery in Rougemont, NC. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the funeral home and other times at her husband, Edward's residence, 2680 S. Mebane St, Apt 308. The family will also receive friends following the graveside service at her sister, Ethel Aiken's, home, 7121 Blalock Rd., Bahama, NC.
