Lorena Tate

Lorena “Ba” Horner Tate, 97, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Springview Nursing Home.  She was born in Orange County on May 1, 1923 to the late John Thomas Horner and Novella Laws Horner and was married to the late Ervin Orrin Tate who died in 1997.

Lorena retired from Tower Hosiery Mill and formerly worked at Kayser-Roth.  She was a member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church, loved making quilts, Barbie doll clothing and aprons for friends and family.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” Steele and husband, Jerry; a son, Lawrence “Larry” Tate and wife, Rev. Carol Tate; 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, an infant daughter, a granddaughter Kelly Page Steele, 2 sisters and 5 brothers.

The graveside service will be held at 11:00am Monday, August 24, 2020 at Mt. Zion Christian Church Cemetery in Mebane.  The family will be at the daughter’s home.
