Lonnie Walker

Elon, NC Lonnie Cecil Walker, age 74, of Brighton Drive went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 27, 2008 surrounded by his family at the Hospice Home. He was married to Joyce Inge Walker for 30 years who survives. Lonnie retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco and most recently was a part time driver for Enterprise Rental Car. He was a member of People's Memorial Christian Church and a veteran of the US Army. He is survived by his wife of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Kim Walker of Winston Salem, Robin Blackburn and her husband, Terry of King; sons and daughter-in-law, Randy Walker of Florida, Kevin Walker and his wife, Carole of Oklahoma; step daugthters and sons-in-law, Donna Preddy and her husband, Allen of McLeansville, Jodi Moody and her husband, Ricky of Burlington and was blessed with grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Vernon Walker and his wife, Kay of Winston-Salem. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Beulah Joyner Walker. Lonnie's family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice and especially Sheila and Gail for their kindness and compassion throughout Lonnie's illness. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Darrell Massey and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service and other times at the residence.
