Gibsonville – Lois Oakley Kellis, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Caswell County on May 21, 1927 to the late James Archie Oakley and Lizzie Esther Blalock Oakley and was the wife of the late Paul Manfred Kellis.
Lois was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Gibsonville where she sang in the choir, served in the women’s ministry, taught Sunday School and served with the hospitality group. She was also involved with Meals on Wheels. Lois enjoyed camping trips, vacations, family cruises and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lois is survived by her sons, Paul Ron Kellis (Brenda Gail), Mark Kellis (Patricia); daughter, Cindy Bateman; grandchildren, Scott Kellis, Kevin Bateman (Candice), Paula Moore, Brad Kellis, Misty Drake (Chris) and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Julian Oakley and sisters, Eva Oakley and Katie Shoffner.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Gibsonville by Rev. JD Weed with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 prior to the service at the church and other times at her home.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Toni, Beverly and Laura with Hospice and also Erlene and Pam with Life at Home for their loving and devoted care for Lois.
