Linda Phipps Miller

Linda Phipps Miller, 82, passed away at her home on Monday, October 23, 2023 surrounded by her family.  Linda was born in Whitsett on December 3, 1940 to the late Charles and Elsie Phipps.  She has attended and been a faithful member at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ her entire life.  Linda grew up helping on the family farm and then working for 41 years at Gate City Federal/ BB&T. 

Linda attended Alamance High School and UNCG Commercial, graduating in 1959.  Linda was an avid book reader, exchanging with many friends.  She also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and growing many beautiful flowers.  She loved spending time with her princess cat “M”., family and friends.  Linda was a devoted mother to her two children and experienced much joy with her grandchildren and step grandchildren.  Her gentle spirit, born of a deep faith, comforted so many throughout her life.  Her laugh, her smile, her unconditional love truly reflected the best and most beautiful of God’s light on earth. 

She was preceded in death by her husband; Bill Miller, brother; John Phipps and sister; Sarah Jane Ellis.  She is survived by her daughters; Jane Fittante (Phil) and Lisa Lynn Andrews, grandchildren; Michael Fittante (Gracie), Marianna Fittante (Jacob Dietrich) and Shelby Andrews, the father of her children; Albert Jesse Andrews, sister; Margaret Sharpe (Norman), step children; Teri McLendon (Bill), Lisa Miller (Betsy) and Dena Goldman as well as her step grandchildren; Megan and Matthew McLendon, Tatum and Harris Goldman. 

The family would like to say a special thank you to moms’ best friends, neighbors and Mt. Hope Church family for all their visits and love shown during her illness.  The family also wishes to express thanks to Andrea McBee with AuthoraCare for all the kindness she showed during Linda’s illness as well as Dr. “B” Brahmanday with Cone Cancer for his compassion and care. 

A funeral service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ with the burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:45 prior to the service at the church.
