Linda King

Linda Cobb King, 78, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, November 21, 2016 after many years of battling Alzheimer's disease. Linda was a lifelong resident of Burlington and was the daughter of the late Raleigh and Ella Cobb. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bobby King, her brother, Bobby Cobb, and his wife, Brenda, her son, Mitch King, and wife, Jatana, her daughter, Tracey King Ebert, and husband, Dave, and six grandchildren, Tyler, Evan and Haley King, and Caroline, Cassie and Chase Ebert. Linda also is survived by wonderful in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Linda attended Glencoe School and Pleasant Grove High School and went on to retire after 25 years from the Haw River Post Office. Many people got to know her there over the years and loved to see her working at the window. She knew everyone's box number by heart and even as she began fighting memory loss, she could always remember someone's post office box. Linda loved planting flowers and working in the yard, playing golf, spending time with her grandchildren, and traveling. And she loved taking care of other people, making cakes, pies and casseroles and delivering to those in need, taking friends to lunch, and just loving on people.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice, and to Sharon Harvey, Patty Ross, Himelda Rivera, Rosa Morales, and Margaret Kelley, for their undying love for Linda. These ladies enabled Linda and Bobby and the family to laugh even through the tears as they cared for Linda in the last years of her life. They spent many hours driving her around the county, which made Linda so happy, and just loving her as if she was their own mother, and for that, the family is forever grateful.
Visitation for Linda will be at Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington on Wednesday from 12:00 - 1:45 p.m. with a service in the chapel there at 2 p.m. After the service, there will be a private burial service for the family at Long's Chapel Christian Church Cemetery. At all other times, the family will receive friends at Bobby and Linda's home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell.
