On Wednesday, March 12, 2020, Linda Sue Ray Dove passed peacefully from this world to the next surrounded by friends and family.
Linda was the daughter of Ralph C. Ray (deceased) and Rachel K. Ray of Mebane, NC.
Other than her mother, she is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Robert Dove; children, Robert “Rob” Dove and wife Stormy of Burlington, Shaun Dove and wife Stephanie of Aurora, Colorado, Sarah Dove Walters and husband Nick of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; grandchildren, Conner, Greyson, Zachary and Abigail; sisters, Barbara R. Kueider (Mike), Jeanette Ray (John) and Terry R. Hoggard (Ricky) and a brother, Edward Ray. Along with many nieces and nephews, she leaves behind one very special niece, Kelly Elliot Crawford.
In addition to family, Linda treasured her many friendships, some going back 40 or more years. She was a 1972 graduate of Eastern High School and a 1977 graduate of East Carolina University majoring in Elementary Education. She was employed by the Bakatsias family from 1973 – 2013 and Alamance Burlington School System from 1996 until retirement in 2017 as a teaching assistant at Hillcrest Elementary. Linda received Classified Employee of the Year on three different occasions while at Hillcrest doing a job that she truly loved.
She was a member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church where she once taught Children’s Church and Bible school, was president of the Insight for Christian Living Sunday School Class for several years, served on the decorating committee and was a member of the choir.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Peoples Memorial Christian Church by Rev. David Grinnell and Rev. David Gordon. The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be held at 12:30pm on Sunday at Pine Hill Cemetery.
Linda appreciated all the many prayer warriors that fought this battle alongside of her.
The family would also like to thank the many nurses, doctors and staff at the ARMC Cancer Center and Hospice that have helped in her care. There are too many to name them all, but a huge thank you to Dr. Brahmanday as he loved and cared for her hoping that a cure would be found.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peoples Memorial Christian Church, 247 N North Carolina Hwy 87, Burlington, NC 27217 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
