Mrs. Lillian Smith Greeson, age 97, of Julian, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Ashton Place Health and Rehabilitation after several months of failing health. A native of Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ivy Trogdon Smith and was married to the late Keith C. Greeson, who died in 1991. Mrs. Greeson was a career homemaker and was a lifetime member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ, where she was a former Sunday School teacher, member of the Women's Guild and until her death was the oldest living member of the church. Mrs. Greeson is survived by her son, Gary Greeson and his wife, Brenda, of Whitsett; her daughter, Karen Kirkman and her husband, Don, of Julian; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer Bradsher, Joy and Jeff Minor, Reed and Jennifer Kirkman, Anna and Jared Lashley and Chris Amaya; eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Jaynee Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; granddaughter, Jenna Kirkman; sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Carl Clapp; and brother and sister-in-law, O.T. and Louise Smith. A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ by Rev. Lloyd Spencer. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. The family would like to extend a special thanks to niece, Jackie Furr, her husband, Bill, and son, Austin, and niece, Barbara Greeson, along with the staff and volunteers of Guilford Hospice for their loving and kind care of Mrs. Greeson.
