Mebane – Liberal M. Teixeira, 90, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born in Azores, Portugal to the late Manuel Jose Teixeira, Jr. and the late Eliza Matos Teixeira. He was the husband to the late Luisa Arruda Mello Teixeira.
Liberal was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He received an honorable discharge from the Portuguese Military. Liberal worked in various occupations including a being a dairy farmer, building roads and infer structures for areas in Portugal, payroll manager, saloon keeper and built wagon wheels. He retired from road construction in the US after over 30 years. He built the house he lived in with the help of his son. Liberal lived like to the fullest and worked hard all his life.
Survivors include his son, Michael Teixeira and wife, Irina Lopez of Mebane and his canine companion. “Merle”. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, Gloria Teixeira, former wife, Luisa Arruda Mello Teixeira; sisters, Ilda Teixeira and Lourdes Teixeira.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 10:00am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Fr. Timothy Lyons, OFM. Conv. The family will receive friends from 9-9:45am prior to the service. The burial will follow at Mebane Memorial Garden.
