Lewis Cheek

Lewis Ray Cheek, 85, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018, at his home, after a year and half battle with cancer. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Henry Lewis and Martha Rogerson Cheek and husband of the late Patricia Songy Cheek who passed away in 2015.
Ray retired as Family Services Director with The Salvation Army. He was an active member of
Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree, an Air Force Veteran, and member of the Burlington Artist League.
Survivors include his sons, Kenneth Ray Cheek, Sr. and wife Rebecca of Mebane and David Lewis Cheek of Jacksonville, FL; daughters, Pamela Wase and husband Marty of Pinebluff, Linda Cheek Darst of Walnut Cove, and Wendy Cavalier and husband Josh of Charlotte; grandchildren, Melissa Moore and husband Mike, Daniel Darst and wife Brittany, Stephanie Maltos and husband Vince, Danielle Wase, Louise Rice and husband Bobby, Cristina Adams and husband Casey, Patricia Cromer and husband Daniel, Adam Cheek, and James Cavalier; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Sabrina, Brianna, Bobby, Jr., Dylan, Mazie, Gracie, and Wynter; brother, James E. Cheek; and sister Patty Cheek Hyder.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; children Karen Cheek Teague and Daniel Erwin Cheek; grandchildren Kenneth Ray Cheek, Jr, and Jamie Darst; brother-in-law, William E. Hyder and sister-in- law Terri Cheek.
Funeral services will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Burlington on Wednesday, December 19 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 prior to the service at Blessed Sacrament.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of your choice or to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
