Leopold "Leo" Joseph Tapler

Leopold “Leo” Joseph Tapler, 81, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024 at ARMC following a sudden illness. A native of Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Leopold Joseph Tapler and Elizabeth Tapler and was married for over 60 years Linda Elizabeth Tapler, who passed in August 2024. 

Leo was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where he served as a Deacon and was also a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. Before his retirement he and Linda lived in Raleigh where he served as the Human Resources Director for the Catholic Diocese of Raleigh, NC. 

Leo enjoyed playing golf, cards and traveling to different parts of the world, including the Holy Land. He enjoyed classical music and even had season tickets to the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. Leo was a kind, caring and generous man whose charitable contributions will have a lasting impact on many lives. 

Survivors include his three sons; Leopold “Leo” Joseph Tapler and wife, Marsha, Joseph Paul Tapler and wife, Judy and Paul Alfred Tapler and wife Amanda, grandchildren; Michael, Marissa and her partner Kristen Davis, Margaret, Hannah, Jacob and Abigail Tapler and a sister-in-law; Libby Tapler. He was preceded in death by his wife; Linda Tapler, parents; Leopold and Elisabeth Tapler and a brother; John Tapler. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00PM on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home as well as from 10:00 – 10:45 prior to the service at the church.
