Lena Mae Satterfield Lee, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on September 6, 2023. She was a woman of great generosity and had a heart that embraced everyone she met. Lena Mae was known for her warm spirit and the ability to strike up conversations with anyone. She had an undeniable gift for connecting with others and spent countless hours on the phone chatting with her sisters and friends.
Born on January 3, 1932, in Alamance County, Lena Mae lived a life filled with joy and compassion. She was an active member of Kimesville Road Baptist Church and found solace in her faith. Lena Mae's love for reading took her on countless adventures within the pages of books. Additionally, she enjoyed days spent shopping in her favorite stores.
Lena Mae had an unwavering love for children. She adored them wholeheartedly and always made sure to have snacks and candies at hand to put smiles on their faces.
Lena Mae was preceded in death by her beloved husband Edmund Lee and her parents Linwood and Lena Satterfield. She was also preceded by her grandson Michael Lee, sister Josephine Satterfield, brother Roy Satterfield, in-laws Octavius and Minnie Lee, and brothers-in-law Walter “Buddy” Lee, Bob Lee, Donnie Lee, Ray Shook, and Wesley Stinson.
Lena Mae's legacy lives on through her children: Linda Lee Seawell (Wenford), Gary Michael "Mike" Lee, Douglas "Doug" Eugene Lee, and Edmund "Eddie" F. Lee Jr. (Lisa). She cherished each moment spent with her cherished grandchildren: Erin Camhi (Jason), Allyson Lee, and Breanna Hippert (Taylor). Lena Mae's great-grandchildren brought immense joy into her life: Madelyn Camhi, Caroline Camhi, Ryder Watson, and Mason Hippert.
The passing of Lena Mae leaves a void in the lives of her siblings: Iris Shook of Tampa, Florida; Lorraine "Honey" Stinson of Greensboro and Virginia Ann Allen of Burlington. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law and their wives: Ronnie and Pam Lee of Concord, Gerald and Rusty Lee of Port St. Lucie, Florida and sisters-in-law: Hilda Lee of Statesville and Kay Lee of Charlotte. Lena Mae's extended family includes numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will forever cherish her memory.
The services to honor and celebrate Lena Mae's life will be held at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, 2205 S Church St, Burlington, NC 27215 at 2 PM on Saturday, September 9, 2023. The family will receive friends from 12:45 – 1:45 prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Alamance Memorial Park.
Lena Mae Satterfield Lee will be fondly remembered for her kind heart, vibrant personality, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy of love and generosity will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her.
