Lelia Davis

Lelia Tuttle "Tut" Hoover Davis age 86, of Wildwood Lane went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 23, 2008 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Caldwell County and the loving wife of 46 years to the late Carl Richard Davis whose memory she loved and cherished and now they are reunited in Heaven. Lelia was a longtime member of Macedonia Lutheran Church and Circle # 6. She was actively involved for many years with the Hospice League of Alamance-Caswell where she earned the nick name "The Cookie Lady" for her oatmeal cookies. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and traveling. Tut loved her friends and their visits made the past few years of her life bearable since the death of her dear husband in 1993. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy D. and Bill Shytle of Lenior and Rese Davis and Tim Carey of Snow Camp; five step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren; sisters, Becky Baker of Raleigh and Joyce Clark of Canton; brother, Earl Hoover of Burlington; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Garland and Lois Corpening Hoover; sister, Laura Shell and a brother, Albert Hoover. The Davis family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and nurses at Liberty Commons Assisted Living and Rehab also to the Staff and Nurses at Edgewood Place Skilled Nursing and Rehab for their compassionate care. The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel located at 2205 S. Church Street in Burlington by Rev. Stephen Rust and the burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
