Leland Joyce

Leland Floyd Joyce, 81, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after years of failing health.
A native of Buchanan County, VA, he was the son of the late Howard R. and Lucille White Joyce and husband of Peggy Belcher Joyce who survives.
He retired from being a truck driver after 45 years to enjoy spending time with family. Floyd was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and an active member of the Methodist Men. His favorite pastimes were watching his sons play football, softball and baseball, family beach trips and outdoing his friends in the garden. Floyd's delight over the past 23 years was enjoying his grandchildren. Morgan was the little princess he has waited on for so long. Pictures show the joy she brought him. Go-cart racing and Friday night football with Chandler brought back the boy in him. The second little princess named Abby came who was paw paw's shadow in the garden and selling the produce. They all had their special times with him. The later years he took great pleasure in his mountain home.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Belcher Joyce of the home; sons, Howard R. Joyce and wife Melissa and Mark A. Joyce and wife Shea all of Elon; grandchildren, Morgan Joyce, Chandler Joyce and Abigail Joyce; brothers, Rufus Joyce and wife Ella of Glen Raven, Clay Joyce of Graham, Jerry Joyce and wife Betty of Burlington and Mack Joyce of Mebane; sister, Leiburn Parks and husband Jimmy of Burlington; and eleven nieces and nephews. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, son, J. Todd Joyce and brother, Keith Joyce.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Faith United Methodist Church by Rev. Lee Edwards with burial to follow at Shallow Ford Christian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
