Altamahaw-Lee Jefferson Rudd, age 102, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of the late Bonnie Hughes Rudd. Lee retired after many years with Lorillard Tobacco. He was the oldest living member of Bethlehem Christian Church where he was named Senior Citizen of the year in 2006.. Lee was a member of the Ever Ready Sunday School Class and served as a former Deacon and Treasurer for the church. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed gardening and fishing. Survivors include his sons, Jerry Lee Rudd and wife, Connie of Woodville, Texas and Robert Bob Bernard Rudd and wife, Anna Blair of Graham; 5 grandchildren, Vicki (Steve) Hand, Kerry (Pamela) Rudd, Mike (Martha) Rudd, Trenton Ziegenhals and Brent (Lisa) Rudd; 12 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren; brothers, George D. Rudd and Walter F. Rudd and wife, Marie all of Elon; sister, Evelyn R. Simons and husband Frank of Burlington and a sister-in-law, Lucille W. Rudd of Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, George Lafayette Rudd and Minerva Smith Rudd; brothers, Lacy T. Rudd, Jimmy W. Rudd and Leonard D. Rudd; sisters, Myrtle R. Rimmer and Nellie R. Moss. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of their dad. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Todd Felkel and assisted by Rev. Dave Gilbert and burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:45-12:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or Bethlehem Christian Church, 3625 Altamahaw Church Street, Elon, NC 27244.
