Leatrice Johnson

Leatrice "Joy" Jenkins Johnson, 83, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 16, 2012 following a short illness. She was the wife of the late Donald W. Johnson and was born June 3, 1928 in Sampson County to the late Alfred Mack and Mary Elizabeth Beard Jenkins. Joy had retired from Burlington Industries and was a member of Riverdale Baptist Church. She had been a very active member of the church for fifty-eight years. Survivors include her son Donald "Mack" Johnson and his wife Tammy of Stokesdale, grandchildren, Frank Dustin Johnson and his wife Beth of Kings Mountain, Christopher Michael Johnson and his wife Tasha of Burlington, great grandchildren, Frankie Johnson, Michael Johnson, Matthew Johnson and Nathaniel Johnson. The funeral will be held 3:00 PM Friday January 20, 2012 at Riverdale Baptist Church by Rev. Jonathan Graves. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM Friday prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Riverdale Baptist Church, 1273 Haw River Hopedale Rd., Burlington, NC 27217.
