Gibsonville, NC Lawrence James Groce, 84, of 4350 McIntyre Road went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 19, 2005 at Wesley Long Hospital. He was a native of Yadkin County and the husband of Edna Cook Groce for over 60 years who survives. Lawrence retired from P. Lorillard Tobacco Company after twenty five years and was a member of McLeansville Baptist Church. Lawrence served in the US Army as a Military Policemen during WW II in the European Theatre. He was an avid fisherman and gardener growing many different types of flowers. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Edna Cook Groce of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Wayne Reese of Gibsonville; son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Rene Groce of Summerfield; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; sister, Pauline Coggins of Mooresville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Everette Groce and Rachel Todd Groce; three brothers and one sister. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at McLeansville Baptist Church by Rev. Jack Lemons and assisted by Rev. Tommy Love and Rev. Harold Venable. There will be a graveside service following the funeral with military honors provided by the US Army at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
