Laurena Woodrome

Elon – Laurena (Laurie) Leigh Woodrome, 60, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 25, 2021 after a brave two year battle with breast cancer. She was born in Denver, CO to Bertram and Jackline Brown. She was married for 42 wonderful years to Bill Woodrome.

Laurie celebrated her 25th anniversary at Labcorp in December 2020. She was a valued and prominent representative of Labcorp and RCM to the industry and their trading partners. She served on many boards and as co-chair of several work groups. She wonderfully represented Labcorp as a leader in healthcare billing.

Laurie enjoyed simple pleasures like reading a good book with a cup of hot tea, taking the dog for a long walk, or preparing a home-cooked meal for Sunday dinners with the family. As co-founder of “The Fun Sisters Club,” Laurie loved sharing laughs and adventures with her sister Lisa. Her adventurous spirit and passion for travel led her to many exciting places throughout her life, meeting new people and creating amazing memories along the way. Laurie’s positive outlook on life was a source of inspiration for everyone who met her. She will always be remembered for her strength, her love, her laugh, and her will to live life to the fullest. She was an incredible wife, mother, and Nana. Her greatest sources of joy were her loving husband, three children, and her three beautiful granddaughters.

In addition to her husband, Bill Woodrome, and parents Bert and Jackie Brown, survivors include three children, Elizabeth Woodrome, Catharine Woodrome  (Brian Quinn) and Michael Woodrome (Elizabeth); three granddaughters, Charlotte and Lincoln Woodrome, and Mara Quinn; sister, Lisa Patterson (John); brother, Cris Brown and maternal grandmother, Frances “GiGi” Gallentine.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Laurie’s memory to UNC Health Foundation, The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center;  PO Box 1050, Chapel Hill, NC 27514 OR a Cone Health cancer research fund.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
