Mrs. Laurel Dobbs Eschner, 80, of 1510 Jon Hus Ct. of Twin Lakes, died Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at her home after a sudden illness. Mrs. Eschner was born in Minneapolis, MN on September 2, 1927 to the late Loyle D. Dobbs and the late Florence Quinn Dobbs and was married for over 51 years to Donald L. Eschner, who died in 2001. She graduated from John Marshall High School in Minneapolis, MN in June 1945 and from the University of Minnesota with a degree in speech in 1949. She was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Jonestown Quilters of Winston-Salem and the Red Hat Society. She was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem and Gibsonville United Methodist Church. She loved to sew, quilt, write poetry, do crossword puzzles and enjoyed international travel with her family. She held various offices at church, in her retirement community and enjoyed making quilts and baking goods for church benefits, and most recently calling Bingo at Twin Lakes. Mrs. Eschner is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Linda Bretz and her husband, Thomas, of Nashua, NH, Mrs. Janet Kelly and Mike Morehead of Dallas, TX and Mrs. LeeAnn McGlynn and her husband, Christopher, of Bedminster, NJ; six grandchildren, Donald Courtney and his wife, Kana, Michael Maxwell, Daniel Maxwell, Colleen Kelly, Kaitlyn Kelly and Rebecca Bretz; and a brother, David L. Dobbs of Montgomery, OH. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. David Green and Rev. Lara Green. The family will receive friends following the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
