Laura Maria Jinesta Rodriguez

     Mrs. Laura Maria Jinesta Rodriguez, age 86, of Mebane, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 1, 2023 at her residence.

     She was born on April 30, 1937 in San Jose, Costa Rica to the late Francisco Luis Jinesta and the late Hortensia Paez Jovel and was the wife for over 57 years to the late Francisco Rodriguez Negron, who passed in March of 2023.

   Laura retired from retail sales where she was admired for her friendly service towards others.  She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was very devoted to her Catholic faith. She was proud that at a later age, she graduated from a bachelor's degree in Biology in Puerto Rico. Her lifelong passion for music motivated her greatly, as well as writing inspirational poems created by herself since her young age.  Laura's enthusiasm led her to participate in the Language Week Poetry Contest in Puerto Rico in 1989 for her poem she called, "Costa Rica". Laura loved to travel with her husband, Francisco. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

     Mrs. Rodriguez is survived by her daughter, Laura (Ruben) Gonzalez; her two sons, Francisco (Lily) Andres Rodriguez and Jose (Cathy) Alberto Rodriguez; grandchildren that she adored, Zoe Gonzalez, Javier Gonzalez, Jennifer Rodriguez, Kevin Rodriguez, Kerrie Michelle Rodriguez and Sebastian Rodriguez; three step grandchildren, Alexis, Jennifer and Stephanie; sisters, Carmen Teresa Jinesta, Maria De Los Angeles (William) Allan and Ana Lucia (Ernesto) Chinchilla; a brother, Father Luis Alberto Jinesta; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a brother, Manuel Francisco Jinesta.

     A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Father Peter Tymco OFM, Conv. with the entombment to follow in the Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 AM Tuesday prior to the service at the church.
