Mr. Lattice Fremont “Bob” Curl, age 90, of Burlington, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family after several months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Lattice E. Curl and the late Lona Buckner Curl and was married for over 68 years to Mrs. Evelyn Brown Curl, who survives. He was an U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War. Bob was retired from Western Electric after 38 years of service and was a longtime member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee, Deacon, Sunday School Director and in many other capacities of leadership. He was an avid sports fan, especially of his beloved Wake Forest University and after his retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife. They enjoyed many special outings with their beloved grandchildren, including fishing and picnics, and sometimes had to drive two cars.
Mr. Curl is survived by his wife of the home; three children, Ray Curl and wife, Patricia, of Graham, Kathy Snipes and husband, Lyman, and Janie Myers, all of Burlington; six grandchildren, Ben Curl, Jason (Jeannine) Curl, Casey (John) Herndon, Cameron (Amanda) Snipes, Lucas (Maritza) Riley and Rachel (Eric) Overkamp; thirteen great grandchildren, Meagan, Addison, Kiera, Hayden, Will, Chance, Payton, Ryker, Kaleb, Isabelle, Evan, Hunter and Elijah; and a sister, Imogene Durham of Burlington.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Fellowship Baptist Church by Rev. Mike Williams and Rev. Ken Simpson. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Friday evening at the church and other times at the residence.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, especially Betsey, Vickie, Ashley and Teri, for their kind and compassionate care of Mr. Curl during his illness.
