Whitsett, NC LaRue Allen Brothers, age 77, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 24, 2011 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of 57 years to Richard Brothers who survives. LaRue was a member of First Baptist Church of Whitsett where she taught for several years the Cubbies in the AWANA childrens ministry. LaRue worked at Dixie Belle in Gibsonville for many years. She was a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Whitsett Fire Department. LaRue spent her life caring for her family and looking after others. The Bible verse Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth speaks to the Christian virtue that was exemplified in LaRues life. Survivors include her husband, Richard Brothers of the home; daughters, Sharon Kay Brothers and Susan Brothers Dodder both of Whitsett; grandchildren, Emily Garner Taylor and her husband, Nathan of Lexington, NC and Nicholas Michael Garner and his wife, Melissa of Maryland; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters, Nelda Phillippe of Gibsonville, Betty Thomas and her husband, JC of McLeansville; brother, Russell Allen and his wife, Nell of Graham. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kelly Kenneth Allen and Carrie Hackney Allen. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Tim Stevens and Associate Pastor Josh Eller and the burial will follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
