Larry Scarborough

Larry Mitchell Scarborough, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the VA Medical Center in Durham.  He was born in Cabarrus County on November 8, 1947 to the late Walter Junior and Betty Geraldine Chastain Scarborough and was the husband of 42 years to Judy Lane Montgomery Scarborough of the home.

Larry was a longtime member of West Burlington Church of God and was a US Army Veteran serving in the Military Intelligence during the Vietnam era.  He enjoyed his retirement, trips to the beach and mountains and playing golf and tennis.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; sons, Rodney Gene, Daniel Ray (Tammy), Larry Scott; daughter, Christina JoAnn (Jay); nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held 2:00pm on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Olin Tatum with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 prior to the service on Saturday.
