Larry Leon Phillips, 73, of 2540 Ossipee Front St., town of Ossipee, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015 at The Hospice Home following a lingering illness. He was born in Burlington on April 22, 1942 to the late Taft and Rhonda Evans Phillips. He was a retired salesman in electronics and electrical sales for over 20 years and a maintenance worker for over 17 years. He attended Altamahaw Baptist Church until he was unable to attend due to his illness. He was saved under the preaching of the late Rev. Bill Culberson when he was very young. He believed being a Sunday School teacher and a Deacon or any other job in the church was all God wanted him to do. One day at age 70 his life fell apart and he met death at his door. Sometimes he was in such pain, he prayed for God to take him home. God put people in front of him to witness to and he realized that his witness was his most important job. Survivors include his wife Carol June Saul Phillips of the home; children, Penny P. Medley and husband Sam, Sandy P. Etheridge and husband Rodney; grandchildren, Larry Robert "Robbie" Medley and Sydney Nichole Medley, Ze Ze Etheridge and Ave` Etheridge. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Vera Strickland Phillips A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, August 6, 2015 in Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Thomas Coble. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 9:30-10:30am, prior to processing to the cemetery for interment services. At other times the family will be at the home of Penny Medley; 1221 Border St., Burlington, NC.
