Larry Moore

McLeansville- Larry C. Moore, 77, on September 12, 2016 the Lord welcomed him into his loving arms and into the arms of his precious angel Patsy Moore. He was a native of Guilford County and the husband of 56 years to Patsy Southern Moore, who preceded him in death.
Larry was the owner of Thrifty Market in his community for over 55 years. He was a devoted member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ, Sunday school teacher, assistant coach with former Southeast Guilford High School varsity baseball coach, Kevin Callahan for over 25 years, Greensboro Colt baseball volunteer for more than 20 years, elected in the PONY Baseball Wall of Fame, and one of the original board members and founders of the Mount Hope Community Fire Department. Larry, or "Smoke", as his drag racing buddies called him, had a love for racing, tinkering with collector cars and memorabilia, and talking with his many friends in his backyard shop. Larry had a beautiful voice and appreciated music of all genres, but the music of the 50's held a special place in his heart that he shared with Patsy.
Survivors include daughter, Stephanie Warren and husband, Clay; son, Kevan Moore and wife Sharon; grandchildren, Clint Moore and wife Marissa, Megan Hughes and husband Matt; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy Moore, parents, Dewitt and Odell Moore, siblings, Jeneane Jackson and Lee V. Moore.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ by Rev. Kristin Gerner-Vaughn and the burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the committal service in the church fellowship hall.
