Larry Hursey, Sr.

Whitsett – Larry Kent Hursey, Sr., 76, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.  He was born in Durham County on March 31, 1944 to the late Sylvester Hassell and Daisy Wicker Hursey Brookbank and was the husband of 43 years to the late Barbara Ann May Hursey.

Larry was a longtime member and deacon of First Christian Church in Gibsonville.  He was a Partner in Hursey’s BarBQ, a Real Estate Investor and served as Alderman of Gibsonville. He was also a member of the Burlington Shag Club.

Survivors include his son, Larry Kent Hursey, Jr. and wife Colleen; daughter, Lorri Hursey Williams; grandchildren, Trey Hursey, Brooke Belangia, Larry Williams, Ryan Cobey, Amanda Cobey; great grandchildren, Carsyn, Kinley, Gander, Willow; brother, Charles Hursey and wife Ellen and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.  He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother, Don Hursey.

A private service for the family will be held on Sunday with the burial to follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery.  He will be available for public viewing from 9-4 on Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
