Larry Frank Gerringer, 82, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A native of Guilford County, he was the son of the late A.B. Gerringer, Jr and Sarah Marie Jobe Gerringer and was the husband of Jackie Coleman Gerringer, who survives.
Larry was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church, operated his family's Dairy Farm, and volunteered with the McLeansville Fire Department for over 60 years. During his time with the fire department, he served in many different roles including Volunteer Chief of 9 years, Training Officer, and Chairman on the Board of Directors. Known by all as an outstanding farmer, Larry served on the FSA and Voluntary Ag District boards, while also winning honors such as Guilford County Farm Family of the Year and several production awards. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and working with them on the farm. He also enjoyed Nascar, hunting, fishing, and rambling on with other farmers, but the most important thing in Larry’s life was his family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years; Jackie Coleman Gerringer, daughters; Anna Gerringer Amoriello and husband, Scott, and June Gerringer-Deatherage and husband, David, grandchildren; Cole (Carrisa), Bryce, Mitch, Brock (Hannah), Blake, and Bayleigh. Siblings include; Sylvia Gerringer Overman Holbrook (Bert), Jill Gerringer Lowdermilk (Harold), aunts; Lillie Snider, Betty Gerringer, nieces and nephews; Matthew (Rhonda), Mike (Krista), Amanda, and Evan, great nieces and nephews; Lillie, Branden (Lori), and Andrew as well as numerous cousins and other special family members. Larry was preceded in death by his son; Larry Frank Gerringer II, parents; A.B. Gerringer, Jr and Sarah Marie Jobe Gerringer, and a brother-in-law; Bill Overman.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Friday, May 19, 2023 at Peace Lutheran Church by Rev. Dr. Steven King with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home.
