Graham, NC Larry G. "Cotton" Barber, age 69, of Burton Street went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Moses Cone Hospital. He was a native of Guilford County and the husband of Yvonne Terrell Barber who survives. Larry worked in every aspect of the trucking Industry since he was 17 years old becoming a Terminal Manager for Georgia Highway Express. He worked for Old Dominion and Estes Trucking over the course of his career. Larry was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church and a Sunday School Teacher for the Harper Burke Class for over 25 years. He was a greeter at Glen Hope making everyone welcome with his winning smile. He was a past master of the Thomas M. Holt Masonic Lodge in Graham. Larry was an avid gardener, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Terrell Barber of the home; daughters, Cindy Briggs of Graham, Penny Teer of Burlington, Tammy West of Burlington, Lisa McBroom and her husband, Randy of Mebane and Melaine Vatter and her husband, Mike of Burlington; son, Michael Todd Barber and his wife, Amber of Burlington; 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Mae Lamm and her husband, William of Gibsonville, Debbie Page of Elon; brothers, J.W. Johnson and his wife, Helen of Julian, Alton Barber and his wife, Arlene of Gibsonvillle. He was preceded in death by parents, Garland "Buck" Barber and Neoma Johnson Barber; sister, Judy Ann Barber and a brother, Garland "Junior" Barber. A service to celebrate his life will be held at Glen Hope Baptist Church on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Larry Redding and assisted by Rev. Carl Poole. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home. Memorial may be made to Glen Hope Baptist Church, C/O Missions, 911 North Avenue, Burlington, NC 27217.
