Mr. Larry Alton Amick, age 75, of Julian, passed away on Friday, April13, 2018 at his residence after several months of failing health.
A native and lifelong resident of Guilford County, he was the son of the late Taft Gilmer Amick and the late Hazel Gerner Amick. He was a former electrician with Starr Electric and AC Corporation until his retirement. Larry enjoyed playing his guitar, bluegrass music, and had a love for horses.
Mr. Amick is survived by his longtime companion, Robin Jones; two daughters, Scarlett Amick and Crystal A. McCraw and her husband, Adam; a son, Taft L. Amick and his wife, Jerri; four grandchildren, Stacy (Curtis) Reagan, Lee Amick, Garland Amick, Nicole (Richard) Robinson; five great grandchildren, Emma, Rylan, John, Devin and Heidi; a sister, Dora A. Moore; special nieces and nephews, Tonja Kallam, Amy Amick, Isaac Amick and Johnny Burrows; several great nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard Amick; and a niece, Angie Dalrymple.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ by Rev. Kristin Gerner-Vaughn and Rev. Lynne Hinton. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM Saturday evening at the church and other times at his sister, Dora's house.
