Elon, NC Kenneth Ken Robert Sharp, 60, of 107 Woodland Drive died on Sunday, October 16, 2005 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was a native of Milford, Delaware and the husband of Hilda W. Sharp who survives. Ken was a career firefighter working with the Roanoke City Fire Department and serving as a Fire Marshall with Roanoke County Fire Department. Ken was the Executive Director of Fire Programs for the State of Virginia and he also worked as a Private Fire Investigator and Insurance Adjuster for GAB Robins. He was employed with Disaster One in Greensboro as a Customer Service Manager. Survivors include his wife, Hilda W. Sharp of the home; daughters, April Sharp of Charlotte, NC and Amber Sharp of Mt. Washington, Kentucky; step son and daughter-in-law, David and Lorie Knighton of Baden Lake, NC; Judith Sharp of Kentucky his previous wife and the mother of his children; sister, Joyce Dean of Milford, Delaware and his brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Doris Sharp of Salisbury, Maryland. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth R. Sharp; his parents, Jesse W. And Mildred Kirby Sharp; and a special brother-in-law, Keith Dean. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tip Cockman and the burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Elon. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
