Kenneth "Ken" Roberts Queen, age 81 went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his family. Ken was the husband of fifty six years to Joan Turner Queen who survives. Ken retired from Kayser Roth Hosiery after 19 years and was employed with Fred S. Kahn Company in Newton for several years. Ken was also the owner and operator of Alamance Dyeing and Finishing in Graham. He was a longtime member of Grove Park Baptist Church and a member of the Reliable Sunday School Class. Ken sang in the church choir and a church quartet for many years. Ken attended Gardner Webb College where he played baseball before entering the US Marine Corp where he also played baseball while stationed in Korea. Ken graduated from Tennessee Tech after his tour in the Marine Corp. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Ken enjoyed fishing, sports and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of fifty six years Joan Turner Queen of the home; daughter, Joni Hall and her husband, Chris of Ft. Myers, Florida and sons, Stan Queen and his wife, Janet of Burlington and Steve Queen and wife, Holly of Altamonte Springs, Florida; grandchildren, Christopher Turner Hall, Ashley Elizabeth Hall, Kenneth Brooks Queen, Taylor Marie Queen, Peyton Alexandra Queen and Cooper Webb Queen and three great grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Barker of Salisbury, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Annie Lou Culbertson Queen and a brother, Ronald Queen. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 2:3 0 pm at Grove Park Baptist Church by Rev. David Morton and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Grove Park Baptist Church, 108 Trail One, Burlington, NC 27215.
