Kenneth Huffines

Kenneth Lillard "Poppa" Huffines, age 95, of 1631 Stratford Rd., passed away Monday May 25, 2009 at his home. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Jean Landman Huffines and son of the late Ruffus and Fannie Fay Blackwell Huffines. He was retired from Glen Raven Mills, a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church and an Army Veteran of WWII. Survivors include his daughters, Sandra Bryant and husband Jerry of Burlington and Beverly Litten and husband Andy of the home; grandchildren, Andrew Kenneth Litten and wife Kat of Rock Hill, SC, Susan L. Holt and husband Josh of Snow Camp, Kim Rich and husband Steve of Gibsonville, Julie Nicholson of the home and Jason Bryant of Burlington and 2 step grandchildren; great grandchildren, Abigail Holt, Alese Nicholson, Robert Rich, Mikayla Rich and 2 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and siblings, Florine Allred, Wallace Huffines, Mahlon Huffines and Cecil Huffines. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday May 28, 2009 at the Glen Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Bill Rice and Rev. Bob Stephenson. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mr. Huffines will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-7:30 PM Wednesday and at other times, the residence.
