Burlington-Kenneth Earl Dutton 83, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 16, 2019. Ken was a former resident of Rocky Mount and Nashville, NC before residing in Burlington. He was born in Columbus County to the late John George Dutton and Mary Marlowe Dutton.
Ken retired as the owner and operator of Norton Russ Automotive. Ken was a member of Harvest Baptist Church and a member of the Builder’s Sunday School class.Ken was a 3rd degree lifelong Mason. He enjoyed working in his yard, reading good books and listening to Southern Gospel music. Ken enjoyed singing and had a natural wit. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Poteet Dutton of the home; sons, Darrell Dutton and wife, Dr. Deborah Johnson of Gibsonville and David Dutton and wife, Ellen of Pleasant Hill, California ; granddaughters, Emily and Elizabeth Dutton; sister, Jewel Applewhite an husband, Bill of Asheboro. step daughters, Alicia Goff and husband, Richard of Canton, Georgia and Natalie Green and husband, Matt of Santa Clarita, California; step son, Brett Bowden and wife, Theresa of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Jane Dickens Dutton; daughter, Angeline Elizabeth Dutton; parents; brothers, Roland Deward Dutton and Thomas Milton Dutton and a sister, Inez Ward.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of ARMC Cancer Center and Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell for their kindness during Kenneth’s illness.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 1:00pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Garry Baldwin. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:45 prior to the services at the funeral home.
