Katye Newton

Katye Whitfield Comer Newton, 83, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the Hospice Home. She was born April 27, 1931 in Person County to the late Lester E. and Maggie Mae Long Whitfield. She was married to the late Clinton B. Comer and the late William "Billy" Newton. She was of the Baptist faith and a wonderful mother, sister and friend. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her daughter Angie Comer of Haw River; sisters, Beatrice "Bea" Jenkins of Burlington, Jean Walker of Roxboro, Sadie Roach of Gibsonville, Linda Woody Allen of Elon; brothers, Herbert Nancy Whitfield of Burlington and Herman Carol Whitfield of Haw River. She was preceded in death by her two husbands; parents; sisters, Doris Coleman, Lorraine Matkins, Frances Barber, Mae Lowe; brothers Melvin Whitfield, Raymond Whitfield and a half-sister Ethel Whitfield. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Friday, April 10, 2015 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jim Rosser and Rev. Bobby Fann. Interment will follow in Graham Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215. The family would like to thank the staff of White Oak Manor and Hospice of Alamance-Caswell for their loving care of Mrs. Newton.
