Kathy Mae McAdams Whisnant

Kathy Mae McAdams Whisnant, 72, of Mebane, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 13, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.  A native of Alamance County, Kathy was the wife of James Baxter Whisnant, the love of her life for 54 years.  She was the daughter of the late John Spencer and Dorothy T. McAdams of Mebane.  She was a retired employee of the Alamance County School Systems.

Kathy is survived by her husband, James Whisnant of the the home; son, Charles Whisnant of Graham; daughter in law, Patricia M. Albright of Mebane; sisters, Marie Sykes (Dan) of Mebane, Faye Barker of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Joanne McAdams, Robin McAdams, Bonnie Dodson (Pat), Connie King (Herman), Annette McAdams (Jay Haggerty), and Aimee Phillips, all of Mebane; brothers, John McAdams, Jr. of Prospect Hill, Walter McAdams (Sharon), and Wesley McAdams (Kaye) of Mebane; grandchildren, Laura Whisnant of Mocksville and Cameron Whisnant of Mebane; step-granddaughter, Chrissy Albright of Mebane; great grandsons, Braxton and Braydon Whisnant of Mocksville; great granddaughter, Brooklyn Mae Whisnant; 17 nieces and nephews; and 26 great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, James B. Whisnant, Jr. (Jamie), brother-in-law, Paul Barker, great niece, Faith Smith, and nephew, David Smith.

A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held 11 AM on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends from 9:45 AM- 10:45 AM prior to the service and all other times at the home.  Interment will follow the service at Alamance Memorial Park.
