Kathy Ann Steen Allmond, beloved matriarch of her family, peacefully departed from this world on January 10, 2025, at her residence. Born on September 17, 1959, in Scott County, Iowa, Kathy was a guiding light to all who knew her and steadfast anchor for her loved ones.
Kathy dedicated a significant part of her life to the medical field, working with Adult Care Management for over 37 years where her passion for helping others shone through. Her commitment was not only evident in her career but also reflected in her daily life as she seamlessly balanced the roles of caregiver, planner, and family organizer. Kathy was the glue that held her family together, ensuring that they remained close-knit.
She married the love of her life, Roger Allmond on June 19, 1976 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Roger and Kathy lived in Gibsonville for the past 21 years. Her passions extended beyond her profession; she found joy in simple pleasures such as shopping, gardening, and baking. Whether she was whipping up a delicious treat in the kitchen or cultivating beautiful blooms in her garden, Kathy's enthusiasm radiated warmth and love. She also took immense pride in scheduling family events, creating cherished memories that her family will hold close to their hearts forever.
Kathy’s legacy will be carried on by her loving husband, Roger Lee Allmond, who stood by her side through thick and thin for over 48 years. She leaves behind her devoted sisters, Denise Turman (David), Tina Brubaker, and Melissa Cone (Greg), as well as her supportive brother, Matthew Brubaker (Angela). The love of her extended family will remain a testament to the nurturing spirit she fostered. Heartfelt connections with her uncle, Dennis Oetzman (Pat Arp), and aunt, Martha Lamack (Dennis), further illustrate the strong family ties that Kathy cherished. Her numerous cousins, including Jennifer Wolff (Lester), Jill Lund (Mike), and Jodi Ankrom (Mike), fondly remember her for the joy she brought into their lives.
Kathy's legacy is enriched by a host of nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart. From Michael Walls to David Thornton (Tiffany), Mark Willoughby, Christopher Hollowell (Kristal), Matthew Cone (Megan), Joshua Cone (Lauren), Shawn Williams (Christie); nieces, Darice Hair (William), Tabitha Halacheff (Kody), Joanie Valdez (Eddie), Jennifer Barnes (Jesse). Kathy nurtured her relationships with boundless enthusiasm, gathering her family together in celebration of life’s moments, both big and small. Her great nephews and great nieces, including Gage, Drake, Wyatt, Flint, Christian, Shawn Jr., Xavier; great nieces, Treasure, Faith, Sofia, Kaitlyn, Kaelyn, Mykenzie, Mykala, Olivia, Brittany, Skylar, Chloe, Madelyn and Amelia.
Though Kathy has joined her father, Donald LeRoy Steen, and her mother, JoAnn Gabrielson Schwarm, along with her niece, Jessica Walls, and great niece, Briar; nephew Johnathan in eternal rest, she will always be remembered for her unwavering strength, compassionate heart, and endless love. Her legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her, and the love she bestowed upon her family will continue to illuminate their lives.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 101 Eastgate Drive, Elon, NC, with Pastor Steve Braxton. Family will receive friends at the home after 12:30 pm.
Kathy Ann Steen Allmond, though no longer physically present, will eternally shine brightly in the memories and hearts of her loved ones.
