Kathryn Ellington

Mrs. Kathryn Sherrill Bruce Ellington passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010 at her home. Kathryn was a member of Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 30 years and served on numerous committees. She retired from Kayser-Roth Hosiery and later volunteered with Hospice and Meals on Wheels. Kathryn was the daughter of John Morris Bruce and Margaret Attaway Bruce, both deceased and was married to Glenn Cleveland Ellington, who passed away in 1987. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John Morris Bruce, Jr. of Jasper, GA. Survivors include her children, Carolyn Murphy and husband John of Tulsa, OK, Glenda Boone of Burlington, Margaret Braxton and husband Don of Elon, Kathy Church and husband Steve of Wendell, Bruce Ellington and wife Wendi of High Point and Mike Ellington and wife Delaina of Stoney Creek. Sheis also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Dennis Loy of Tulsa, David Loy and wife Lori and daughter Bradyn of Tulsa; Todd Boone and son Kendall of Burlington; Jeff Rudd and wife Melanie and daughter Taelor of Fuquay-Varina; Michelle Ellington Lilliston and husband Cory of Greensboro; Brian Ellington of Stoney Creek and Kristina Church Knisley and husband Sam and daughter Andraya of Siler City; sisters; Dorothy Byrd and Beth Holcomb both of Jonesboro, GA and brother David Bruce of Cookeville, TN. Funeral services will be held at Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church on Tuesday Dec 21, 2010 at 11:00am by Rev. Don Pegg. Interment will follow at Chatham Memorial Park in Siler City. Mrs. Ellington will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday Dec 20, 2010 from 6-8pm. At other times the family will be at the home of Margaret and Don Braxton, 708 Mill Pointe Way, Elon.
