Kathleen Edwards

Kathleen Thompson Edwards, age 82, of Burlington, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014 at Springview Assisted Living. A native of Bladen County, she was the daughter of the late London D. Thompson and the late Etta Autry Thompson. She was a member of Shamrock Evangelical Methodist Church, a retired employee of Culp Finishing and a member of the Burlington Moose Lodge. Survivors include her two daughters, June E. Byrd and husband, David, and Lavon E. Whitt and husband, Ross, all of Burlington; a son, George Dennis Edwards of Jacksonville, FL; a special daughter-in-law, Barbara Edwards; seven grandchildren, Doug Braxton, Joe Marshall, Meredith Marshall, Summer Harris, Brandon Baker, Dan Edwards and Alex Edwards; five great grandchildren, Jessica Braxton, Ashley Braxton, Ethan Edwards, Navadia Harris and Reese Harris; three sisters, Faye Roney and husband, Mickey, Linda Polle and Annie Merle Williams; two brothers, Percy Thompson and wife, Peggy, and Roy Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ronnie "Ron" Brian Edwards; two sisters, Louise T. Edwards and Marie T. Hagan; and three brothers, Lloyd Donald Thompson, Floyd Thompson and Ray Thompson. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, June 17, 2014 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ryan Call. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Lavon Whitt, 3504 Mine Creek Rd.
