Burlington, NC June Turner Franklin, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Stanleytown, Virginia and the wife of 58 years to Douglas Marshall Franklin who survives. June was a homemaker and member of Grove Park Baptist Church. She served on the Baptismal Committee and worked in the nursery for many years at her church. June also served many years with Meals on Wheels of Alamance County. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband, Douglas Marshall Franklin of the home; daughter, Donna Strickland and her husband, Richard of Burlington; son, Mark Franklin and his wife, Lilian of Burlington; grandchildren, Hailee Strickland, Emerson Strickland, Noelle Strickland, Aidan Franklin and Brendan Franklin; sisters, Elva Wilshire and her husband, Paul of Dunn, NC and Violet Frith and her husband, Ray of Bassett, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grenville Conway Turner and Dovie Morrison Turner. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Grove Park Baptist Church by Dr. Gene Hunsinger and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of the arrangements.
