Julie King Terrell

March 17, 1963 — September 19, 2023

Mebane

Julie King Terrell, 60, passed away on Tuesday, September 19 at her home in Mebane. She was born on St. Patrick’s Day in 1963 to her loving parents, the late Sylvia “Meemaw” Riley King and Merlin “Merle” Thomas King. For her entire life, she was bright and colorful, both in soul and in physical presence.

Julie was a multi-talented creative soul who excelled at everything she attempted. She was always in a tie-dyed shirt or dress that she created and her home was filled with her beautiful and colorful creations. She shared and taught the joy tie-dying with a multitude of children and adults.

She was previously a co-owner of Levi’s Printing, a successful printing and design business, located in Efland, NC. In addition to her customer service and accounting skills, she taught herself graphic design skills that she used to bless others for the rest of her life. Julie also worked for Orange County Schools and, most recently, Jacobs Tree Service where she continued to share her talents and bright personality.

Julie loved her friends and family with all of her heart and soul. She was a loving daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. Julie was an avid Tarheel fan and spent many afternoons and evenings cheering for the football and basketball teams with her mother. She loved the Grateful Dead and their music was a big part of her life. Her annual trips to White Lake, NC in July with family and friends were a highlight of her childhood and adult life.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Eliud “El” Hebblethwaite, and a son, Levi Terrell. She is survived by her beloved son, Jerry Terrell of the home, her sister Deborah Byrd (Gray Byrd) of Mebane, her nieces and nephew, Graylyn Byrd (Seth Carter), Meryl Byrd, Ezra Byrd (Elle), her Aunt Jo Downey (Jim), her uncle Jim Riley (Beverly), her beloved dog Rosie, and a host of cousins, coworkers past and present, and friends who adored her including her best friend forever, Cindi Chamberlain. Our lives will never be the same without her but our love for her “will not fade away.”

The family wishes to thank those at Davita Dialysis who were so caring and kind to Julie over the past few years. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Julie’s life will be held on Saturday, October 14 from 4-6 PM at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory in Burlington, NC.

In lieu of flowers, please follow Julie’s example and just be kind, brighten the days of those around you, and make someone smile.
