Graham - Julie Parker Payne, 63, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, October 27, 2017. She was born in Cumberland County on February 28, 1954 to the late Leo Willis and Lana McAllister Terrell Parker. She was the wife of 40 years to Randall "Randy" Wright Payne, Sr. of the home.
Julie was a longtime member of Bible Baptist where she served as choir director and played the piano. She was formerly a member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church. Julie worked for the Alamance-Burlington School System for 28 years before recently retiring. She had a passion for southern gospel music and enjoyed singing. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandsons. She was called "Mama Payne" and was a mother to many. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, Randy Payne; daughters, Lindsay Payne Chatham and husband Isaac, Paula Payne Hornaday and husband Steven; a son, Randy "Buddy" Payne, Jr. and wife Heather; grandsons, Jacob "Jake" Hornaday and Caleb Hornaday; sisters, LaNita Phillips and husband George, Hester Schultz and husband Arthur and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Leo "Tinker" Parker, Jr.
A service to celebrate Julie's life will be held 6:00pm on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Peoples Memorial Christian Church by Dr. Mark Aheron and Pastor David Grinnell with the visitation following at the church. A private graveside will be held on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
