Graham - Julia Holt Canada, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Edgewood Place surrounded by her family. Born November 3, 1927 in Halifax County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Cary and Josephine Holt and was the wife of 49 years to the late Clayton Emmitt Canada.

Julia was a lifelong member of Solid Rock Baptist Church where she often sang with her husband Clayton. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and creating memories with her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters; Jewell Yarbrough (Wallace), Deloris Reed (Randall), Regina King (Ray), Donna Pickard (Gary), Karen Russell (Tre); sisters, Velma Barnhardt (Howard), Brenda Culley; brothers, Claudie Holt, Coy Lee Holt (Barbara), Lonnie Holt, Elwood Holt (Betty); grandchildren, Kem Shuller (Jeff), Jennifer Wheeler (Doug), Wayne Yarbrough (Danielle), Jennifer Smith, Sharon Kilts (Randy), Sarah Taylor (Anthony), Emily Williams (Jason), Brian Canada, Jeremy Watkins (Mary), Heather Gerald (Donald), Shawn Parker (Carman), Amanda Rodriguez (Chris), Shealynn York; twenty-five great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents; a son, Jerry Mitchell Canada; sisters, Nina Estes and Helen Mangum and a brother, Adrian Holt.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00am, Friday, April 8, 2016 at Solid Rock Baptist Church by Rev. Edsel Caviness with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6pm-8pm Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.

The family would like to give thanks to the Village of Brookwood nurses, aids and hospice nurses. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27217.
