Julia Miles Apple, 85, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the Hospice Home. She was the wife of the late Lonnie Harris Apple and was born September 3, 1928 in Caswell County to the late William Boyd and Nannie Rascoe Miles. She graduated from Anderson High School. She was a textile worker most of her working career and a devoted member of Baynes Baptist Church. Julia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and had a servant's heart. She was most proud of her mission trips to Costa Rica, where she taught the young children. She also volunteered with the Red Cross Blood Mobile. She loved to sing and was a member of the Senior Clef Choir of Yanceyville and also enjoyed traveling with members of the Senior Center of Yanceyville. Survivors include her daughters; Mary Catherine Foster of Burlington, Sandra Anne Aldridge George of Reidsville, a son Richard Lee Apple Tammy of Elon, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sisters; Edna Allred, Frances Oakes and a brother Bernard Miles. The funeral will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday at Baynes Baptist Church by Rev. Scott Ingram and Rev. Larry McCarty. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. The family would like to thank the staff of Liberty Commons Nursing Center and the Hospice Home for their compassionate care of our mother. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Baynes Baptist Church, 759 Baynes Rd., Burlington, NC 27217 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27215.
